Paul Gerald Cattermole, a skilled performer with a deep-rooted love for theatre, was born in St Albans, Hertfordshire. He discovered his passion for the stage during his time with the National Youth Music Theatre, where he appeared in the 1994 production of “Pendragon”. Cattermole went on to hone his skills in theatre by studying the craft, catching the eye of Simon Fuller, creator of Pop Idol and manager of the Spice Girls. It was Fuller who handpicked Cattermole to join the hugely popular pop group, S Club 7, which formed in 1998.
Cattermole with S Club 7 had four number-one singles, a number-one album, and fans all over the world. They also produced four TV series that aired in over 100 countries and won two Brit Awards. Cattermole played a pivotal role in the band’s triumph, and his talent as a performer was highly admired by fans and bandmates alike.
After leaving S Club 7 in June 2002, Cattermole pursued his dream of forming a nu-metal band named Skua. However, the band disbanded the following year, leaving Cattermole to figure out his next move. In 2008, he reunited with two other S Club 7 members to form S Club 3, continuing to showcase his musical prowess and passion for performance despite the challenges that come with leaving a highly successful pop group.
Sadly, Cattermole’s life was cut short on April 6th, 2023, when he was discovered unresponsive at his home in Dorset and later pronounced dead at the age of 46.
