WATCH: Domantas Sabonis Has Mikal Bridges on a brutal poster during early minutes of Kings vs Suns

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Domantas Sabonis has been an underrated big man in this league for a very long time. He not only posts up a big number but also creates his own offense in the post area. This season Sabonis continues to get around triple-double numbers but also has failed to reach those numbers in 20 games of this season.

Sacramento Kings lost their third straight game of the season after a seven-game winning streak. In the loss to the Phoenix Suns, the Kings failed to answer Devin Booker’s 44 points. Booker also had season-high 6 steals for the Suns. Sabonis again came around a triple-double but missed the feat by just one rebound. He scored 17 points, had 10 assists and grabbed 9 rebounds to finish the game.

With 8.37 left on the clock in 1st quarter, Kevin Huerter stole the ball from the Suns and ran into the fast break. Running along Huerter was Sabonis in the transition. Huerter passed the ball to Sabonis who took a dribble and hammered it down on Mikal Bridges for the dunk. With a dunk from Sabonis, the Kings had extended their lead to 4, making it 7-11 in the first quarter.

Phoenix Suns defeat Sacramento Kings as Domantas Sabonis misses another triple-double

Phoenix Suns registered their 5th consecutive win of the season with a win over the Sacramento Kings. With a 122-117 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night the Suns have finally moved to the top of the Western Conference. Deandre Ayton had another double-double of the season as he scored 17 points and 12 rebounds. It was Ayton’s 9th double-double of the season.

Acquired from the Lakers this season, Malik Monk scored team-high 30 points, which is also his 4th 30 points game in 20 games this season. Rookie Keegan Murray, who had scored in single digits in the last three games, contributed 11 points. However, the biggest disappointment came from the Kings’ star De’Aaron Fox who scored just 11 points in 28 minutes. He was below 35% in his field goal-scoring percentage.

Speaking to the press after the game, Sabonis said, “Next game, we’ve got to win. We’ve got to figure it out. We can’t let these (losses) keep piling up. We’re at home and we’ve got to protect home court,” Sabonis said. Losing 3 games in a row can not only be frustrating for the team but also becomes bad for the rhythm. The Sacramento Kings now are in the 7th spot in the Western Conference.
