Gannon stauch parents are Albert Stauch and Landen Hoitt

Gannon Stauch was born in Loris, South Carolina, and later moved to Colorado with his parents, Albert Stauch and Landen Hoitt. 

After their separation, Gannon lived with his father and stepmother, Letecia Stauch. Gannon was born prematurely with a 10% chance of survival but grew up to be a healthy and bright child. His younger sister Laina looked up to him.

In January 2020, Gannon went missing while his father was away for training in Oklahoma. 

His stepmother reported that he had left for a friend’s house, but Gannon’s body was later found under a Florida overpass.

How did Gannon Stauch die? 

Following his disappearance on January 27, 2020, Gannon Stauch, an 11-year-old from Lorson Ranch, Colorado, was reported missing, leading to a statewide search. 

Several months later, in March 2020, his remains were discovered inside a suitcase beneath a bridge in northwestern Florida. 

On March 2, 2020, Letecia Stauch, Gannon’s stepmother, was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

She was subsequently charged with the murder of her stepson and child abuse resulting in death and tampering with a dead body on March 11, 2020.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment, and Colorado Springs Police Department conducted a statewide search for the boy, using search and rescue canines and aerial drone footage. 

Unfortunately, Gannon’s remains were found in a fetal position inside a suitcase under a bridge in northwestern Florida on March 20, 2020.

Letecia Stauch, Gannon’s stepmother, was accused of murdering the 11-year-old boy. The autopsy revealed that he had suffered 18 stab wounds to his stomach, back, and head, as well as defensive wounds to his hands. 

The Fourth Judicial District Attorney stated that the stepmother hit Gannon with a heavy object on the head and then shot him three times with a handgun. 

She was taken into custody in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in March 2022, and charged with child abuse leading to death and first-degree murder of a child under the age of 12, as well as tampering with physical evidence. 

She remained in custody without bond in South Carolina until she was extradited to Colorado Springs.

Who was responsible for Stauch’s murder?

Letecia Stauch was caught on a neighbor’s surveillance camera leaving her home with Gannon Stauch on February 4, 2020, and returning alone several hours later. 

According to ABC News, the footage shows Letecia getting into a red pickup truck at 10:13 am and Gannon slowly walking towards the truck and getting in. 

When she returned to the truck at 2:19 pm, Gannon was not with her.

In addition to the charges of child abuse resulting in death, first-degree murder, and tampering with a deceased human being, Letecia Stauch is facing several other charges. 

These include seven counts of a crime of violence for using a weapon, one count of a crime of violence leading to severe bodily injury or death, and tampering with physical evidence.

Letecia Stauch pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming insanity in the murder of Gannon Stauch. The trial is expected to last at least six weeks.
