There are officially eight months (and six days) until the release of the Wicked live-action movie, but in honor of fans' good behavior — they have waited 20 years for the movie to arrive, after all — the first photos of the cast all dressed up in their respective role costumes are here, courtesy of Vanity Fair.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who star as Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba, respectively, got their own solo pictures for the shoot. Grande's pink Glinda gown was fit for a princess and featured intricate silver detailing and several ruffled layers in the dress' skirt. Grande completed the costume with Glinda's sky-high tiara and magic wand. As Elphaba, Erivo wore a face full of green makeup and donned her character's signature pieces of clothing — a draped, billowing black cap and a pointed, matching black witches hat atop her head.

Elsewhere during the shoot, Grande and Erivo teamed up to give a look at Glinda and Elphaba's school days as roommates, which showcased the pop star in a pink and blue skirt suit, with her half of the room covered in pink clothing and suitcases littered across the floor. Erivo's side of the room contains several of Elphaba's favorite books, a map, and flowers, both dead and alive.

Also featured in the photo shoot are Jonathan Bailey — on an actual horse — Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode and Bronwyn James.

In the corresponding feature for the photos are several anecdotes from filming, including director Jon M. Chu revealing that Erivo and Grande decided to sing live on set without pre-recordings. “These are live vocals,” Chu said. “When we were shooting it, those girls were like, ‘F--k the pre-records. We’re going live.’”
