College Baseball World Series Past Winners By Year

College Baseball World Series past winners are Ole Miss in 2022, Mississippi State 2021, Vanderbilt Commodores 2020, and Oregon State 2018.

The 2023 College World Series Final will be played between the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

64 teams participated in the 2023 tournament, the 76th edition of the NCAA baseball. The teams were selected from a pool of 300 eligible teams and divided into 16 regionals with four teams each.

After advancing from their Regionals and Super Regionals double-elimination tournaments, eight teams reach the NCAA Championship event.

University of South California with 12 championship titles has the most College World Series wins. The Trojans have made 14 Finals appearances.

The 2023 finalist LSU Tigers has 6 titles while Florida Gators will be in search of their second. The Championship Finals will start on June 24. 

The Florida State Seminoles have lost three finals in three appearances and the Texas Longhorns have six losses in the Finals. The most successful Conference is Pac-12 with 18 titles. 

While LSU and Florida battle for the 2023 championship, college baseball World Series winners by year for the last decade are listed below.

Ole Miss - 2022

Ole Miss Rebels representing the University of Mississippi won the College World Series last year. Ole Miss triumphed over Oklahoma to the title.

Ole Miss was led by head coach Mike Bianco and competed out of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They ended the season with a 42-23 record and a win percentage of .646.

Ole Miss made it to the Semifinals after defeating Arkansas Razorbacks 13-5 and again faced them in the Semifinals. They lost the first game and went on to win the decider 2-0.

The 2022 MCSW was the first time Ole Miss appeared in a final. A 100%-win record for them in the finals after they defeated Oklahoma Sooners.

Ole Miss won the best-of-three format final in straight games as they beat Oklahoma 10-3 in the first game and 4-2 in the second.

Mississippi State - 2021

Mississippi State won the 74th edition of the College World Series in 2021. The championship was held in Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.

The Bulldogs, members of the Southeastern Conference were led by Chris Lemonis. They ended the season as champions with a 50-18 record.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs reached the Semifinals after they defeated Virginia Cavaliers 6-5 and booked a face-off with Texas Longhorns.

Texas had been defeated once in the First round by Mississippi State and once again met in the Semifinals. Texas was victorious in the first game with an 8-5 scoreline. 

The Bulldogs won their second game with a closely contested 4-3 score and reached the finals of the CWS. They faced Vanderbilt and lost the first game 8-2. They had to win the second game to keep their hopes alive, and so they did.

Mississippi State won Game 2 by 13-2 and enforced Game 3. The final game of the best-of-three format was a one-sided affair with a 9-0 score.

Vanderbilt Commodores - 2019

Vanderbilt Commodores won the MCWS in 2019 which was the 73rd edition of the tournament. It was also held in Ameritrade Park, Omaha.

Tim Corbin led the Vanderbilt Commodores as the Head Coach and ended a dominating season with a 59-12 record. They compete in the Southeastern Conference.

After a stellar season, the Commodores reached the Semifinals after defeating Mississippi State 6-3. Vanderbilt faced Louisville Cardinals in the Semifinals and won 3-2.

The Commodores did not have a good start for the Finals, losing 4-7 in the first game. They went on to register a win in the next game, 4-1, and the third and final game would be the decider.

Vanderbilt went on to win the penultimate game 8-2 and won their 2nd CWS having won their first in 2014. They were the runners-up in 2015.

Oregon State - 2018

NCAA baseball history has seen Oregon State clinch the title three times. Their latest win was in 2018 and previously in 2006 and 2007.

The 2018 season was the final season for Head Coach Pat Casey and was handed the perfect farewell present with the finals win. They ended the season with a 55-12-1 record.

The Oregon State Beavers started their double-elimination tournament with a loss against North Carolinas Tar Heels with a 6-8 scoreline.

Beavers still had another chance to turn their season around and so they did with a win against Washington Huskies. The scoreline was 14-5.

They beat the Tar Heels in their rematch, 11-6, and went against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Semifinals. The Bulldogs were beaten 12-2 in the first game and 5-2 in the second.

Arkansas Razorbacks had reached the finals and beat the Beavers 4-1 in the first game. The Beavers then won two games consecutively with a 5-3 and 5-0 scoreline to secure the Series and their third. 

Oregon State Beavers Beavers have had three appearances in the Finals and have won all of them. They have maintained a 100%-win record.

Florida Gators - 2017

Florida Gators won the College World Series in 2017. It was their first title and came under the tutelage of head coach Kevin O'Sullivan.

Kevin has been at the Gators' helm since 2008 and finished as the runners-up twice in 2005 and 2011. They ended 2017 with a 52-19 record.

Florida started the CWS with a win against the TCU Horned Frogs and followed up with another win against Louisville Cardinals with a 3-0 and 5-1 scoreline respectively.

The Gators once again met the Horned Frogs in the Semifinals and lost the first game with a 2-9 scoreline. They bounced back and won the second game 3-0 to book a place in the finals.

They faced LSU Tigers in the finals and beat them two games to none to clinch their first-ever title. They won the games with a scoreline of 4-3 in Game 1 and 6-1 in Game 2.

After six seasons, the Gators have once again reached the Finals in 2023 and will look to clinch their second title and will face the LSU Tigers who reached the Finals by beating Wake Forest.

Coastal Carolina - 2016

Coastal Carolina won their maiden College World Series in 2016. The 70th edition of the Series saw the crowning of a new team, the Chanticleers.

Gary Gilmore was the Head Coach for the Chanticleers which was his 21st season in 2016. They were members of the Big South Conference and ended the season with a 55-18 record.

They faced the Gators in the first round of the CWS, which they won 2-1. They later faced TCU Horned Frogs and lost 6-1. They faced the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the loser's bracket and were victorious with a 7-5 scoreline.

In the Semifinals, Coastal Carolina came up against TCU to set up a rematch. They won the first game 4-1 and since they had already registered one loss, they had to play a deciding game. They won 7-5 and reached the Finals.

In the Finals, they would come up against Arizona Wildcats, and the best-of-three format series saw the Chanticleers lose the first game 0-3. Game 2 would be crucial for them as they had to win it at any cost.

They went on to win the 2nd and 3rd games with a 5-4 and 4-3 scoreline and got hold of their first-ever College World Series title in 2017.

Virginia Cavaliers - 2015

Virginia Cavaliers won their maiden MCWS title in 2015. They were runners-up in 2014, and have made two Finals appearances in the CWS earlier.

Brian O'Connor won his first NCAA title as a head coach in his 12th season with the Cavaliers. Members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Cavaliers ended the season with a 44-24 record.

Their CWS journey started with facing the Arkansas Razorbacks which they won 5-3. They followed up with a 1-0 win against the Gators and once again came against them in the Semifinals. 

The Cavaliers lost the first game 5-10 and won the decider with a 5-4 scoreline. They came up against the Vanderbilt Commodores for a Finals rematch from the previous season.

The Commodores were victorious in last season's Finals and once again started with a 5-1 victory. The Cavaliers had to win the remaining two and so they did with a 3-0 and 4-2 scoreline and avenged their 2014 loss.

Vanderbilt Commodores - 2014

Vanderbilt Commodores won their first College World Series title in 2014. It was their fourth appearance in the NCAA Championship Finals.

Tim Corbin has been in charge of the Commodores since 2003 and in his 12th season, Corbin won his first CWS title. Vanderbilt are members of the Southeastern Conference and ended their glorious season with a 51-21 record.

The Commodores faced Louisville Cardinals in the CWS and won 5-3. They faced UC Irvine Anteaters in their next game and won 6-4. They faced the Texas Longhorns in the Semifinals and lost the first game 0-4. 

Since Texas had already registered a loss, the deciding game was played to determine the finalist. In the second game, the Commodores won the game 4-3 in the 10th inning and reached the Finals.

They faced the Virginia Cavaliers and won Game 1 with a 9-8 scoreline and lost Game 2, 2-7. The Finals had another final with the last game as a decider. Game 3 ended with a 3-2 scoreline and the Commodores emerged victorious.

UCLA Bruins - 2013

UCLA Bruins won their maiden MCWS in 2013 and were runners-up in 2010. They have made two College World Series Finals appearances.

John Savage was the head coach and won the title in his 9th season. The Bruins are members of the Pac-12 Conference and ended their season with a 49-17 record. They reached the last eight and faced LSU Tigers in the first game and won 2-1.

UCLA faced the NC State Wolfpack and won the game 2-1 and reached the Semifinals. They won 4-1 against the North Carolina Tar Heels and had to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Finals.

The Bruins went on to win the College World Series title in straight games as they won with a scoreline of 3-1 and 8-0 in Games 1 and 2. 

Arizona Wildcats - 2012

Arizona Wildcats have won four titles in the college baseball World Series history. Their championship wins came in 1976, 1980, 1986, and 2012.

Andy Lopez was the Head Coach and it was his first title with the Wildcats. He had previously won the title in 1992 with the Pepperdine Waves.

The Wildcats are members of the Pac-12 Conference and ended the season with a 48-17 record. They started in the CWS with a 4-3 win against the Florida State Seminoles and followed up with a win against UCLA with a 4-0 scoreline.

They once again faced the Seminoles in the Semifinals and only needed one win. Arizona Wildcats had a game to remember as they won 10-3.

The Finals took place against South Carolina Gamecocks. Arizona won the first two games with a 5-1 and 4-1 scoreline to win their fourth title.
