Adam Zimmer was an American-based professional football coach in the National Football League (NFL). Throughout his career, Adam was an assistant defensive backs coach and offensive analyst for the Cincinnati Bengals, assistant linebackers coach for the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs, and linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Adam was the son of Mike Zimmer, a former Vikings head coach.
NFL Coach Adam Zimmer Dies At 38
Adam Zimmer, an NFL assistant coach for 17 seasons, died on 31st, October 2022, Monday, at age 38, in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
Corri Zimmer White, his sister, confirmed the death news on Tuesday morning on Instagram.
Adam was living in Minnesota and was working for the Cincinnati Bengals. The local police department received a call for a welfare check request on Monday at around 1:13 p.m. CDT, according to Wayne Wegener Jr., a police chief.
Officers arrived at Adam’s home and found him dead inside. Wayne said his office is not investigating this case as a suspicious death.
The Hennepin County medical examiner will confirm and determine a cause of death; further, an official identification will be made.
In 2014, Adam joined the Vikings’ coaching staff when Mike Zimmer, his father, was hired as head coach. During his coaching career, he served as linebackers coach for 6 seasons before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2020. Adam was fired along with his father and most of the coaching staff after the 2021 season.
Vikings ownership said in a statement that they were heartbroken to hear Adam’s death news, and he was a kind and respectful man. He added that during his years in Minnesota, Adam cared about everyone around him, including his family, his players, his fellow coaches, and even the Vikings front office staff.

Adam started his first coaching job with the New Orleans Saints, and in 2006 he was hired as an assistant linebackers coach.
